So, are we thinking a star, connection stripe. Snip on left nostril to upper lip. both front pasterns white. How about age?

I'll pull out his eval sheet tomorrow and get back to you on the age. Oscar was formerly known as Mr. Crooked tail, and I think he's going to need longer to adjust than the other guys. He's a real road warrior, and he doesn't realize yet that his battle is over. He rides pretty good, but we're also going to do a lot of ground work with him to re-establish his faith in people.

He looks like he's racky-doodling a bit in the picture; think he'd gait with time and conditioning?

He might be gaited; he was pretty pacy/racky-doodly, he just wasn't together enough or strong enough to do a true trot or rack. Time will tell with this guy.

He touches my heart.. you can tell he's so scared, waiting for the other shoe to drop. We had a QH mare who came to us like that "Who's going to hurt me next?"
He's also wondering "Where is my ear"?

Everyone is at Louisville this week, so you may have to wait for an update, unless one of them speaks up.

Update on Oscar. He is settling in more now. He behaves well and although he is still not lovie dovie with people, he will accept a treat now and occasionally lets his guard down and puts his ears up.Oscar works well under saddle. He stands to mount and stays to the rail pretty well. He is most comfortable doing a racky doodle, will trot but has trouble holding it.He is still weak in the back end, as he gains strength that may change. His racky doodle is smooth,it would be comfortable for trail rides. I tested him outside this week and he had no problems, not spooky or silly. This horse needs someone to love him and spend a lot of quiet time with him.

Oscar just tears at my heart, and as much as I am a 'mare' person, if we could take another right now, it would be him. He has everything I want... a wounded soul that needs love, a good willing heart, and a rackydoodle.
Someone please get this guy and give him the love he doesn't even know he needs... the reward back to you will be 1000-fold.

So glad to hear that Oscar is doing better. He's the kinda guy that just tears at your heart thinking about what he's been through...

I rode Oscar on both Saturday and Sunday, and I don't know why, but as soon as I got him out of his stall on Saturday, I fell in LOVE with this horse. He's so sweet and he's CUTE CUTE CUTE. Well I got on him and it was, to say the least, an awkward gait. He's tough to guide, but nevertheless, he tries so hard to please. I did get him to trot squarely for a few passes down the rail!! I just really like this horse, his heart is a MILLION times huge, he just needs to trust people again.

Oscar is guiding a bit better. He is getting stronger and can trot for longer stretches now. He has clearly had a tough life but is really trying to go along with the program here and do what we ask him to. I would love to see a rescue angle swoop down and give this boy a life of love, attention and easy work. He is an odd little horse but something tells me he would really thrive as someones special pet.

I rode Oscar today and he was great. I rode him a little bit in the ring then I rode him outside. I really like this horse and can't wait to ride him again. I hope he gets a good home soon. He loves attention and is very sweet. Love you Oscar.
Sincerely, Squirrel
